About Me

Gillian Lancaster

I am a freelance graphic designer based in the greater Philadelphia area. In addition to working on graphic design projects, I am an avid choral singer, writer, traveler, and maker of pretty much anything! My sites displaying my work are still evolving organically, as the many elements come to fruition and become ready to be shown to the world.

Born in and educated in England, I came to America in 1988. Having originally trained as a classroom music teacher, I chose to return to my familial roots in choral music; particularly training, performance and promotion. As much as I enjoyed the graphic design behind promoting choral events I was also frustrated by my lack of genuine design knowledge. I decided to go to Penn and get my long-deferred masters degree and was thrilled to discover I could simultaneously take a series of courses in graphic design.

I graduated with my master’s degree and concentration in graphic design in May 2007. Since that time, I have been having a great time developing my freelance graphic design business, and in my spare time developing a network of sites to help and encourage women to reawaken their earlier passions, especially in the areas of journal writing, art, music and travel.
